Scrap Tire Collection Day

Collection Day: June 27th, 2015 at the Road Commission in Hart

Pre-registration Required!

County residents will be able to bring in scrap tires for recycling, free of charge. Residents can bring as many tires as they like, as long as they are from their own property and have pre-registered to let us know how many they will be bringing. If residents plan to bring in tires that have been dumped on public property, Michigan Law states that you cannot bring more that 10 tires in one trip.

Acceptable Tires must be:

  • No larger than 4' tall or 12" wide
  • Free of mud/soil, water, garbage
  • With rims removed. Each tire that is brought in on a rim will incur a charge of $1.00.
  • From individuals (sorry, no businesses please)

We cannot accept tires from earth mover equipment, forestry tires, airplane tires, large tractor tires or similar tires from large equipment.

Participants will have to register ahead of time by calling the Conservation District with their contact information and a specific number of tires they plan on bringing. At collection day, participants will be required to show proof of residence in the county (ID or piece of mail). All tires collected will be recycled into new rubber products rather than going to the landfill - what a great way to clean up our community!

We will need all the volunteer help that we can get, to check IDs, load tires and direct traffic. Please contact us if you can help!
