Join Stewardship Coordinator Emma Waatti and Educator Kari Wilson for a unique winter hike that perfectly blends education, conservation, and tranquility. This engaging outing is taking place at Otto Nature Preserve with a hands-on identification demonstration and a brief presentation of Hemlock Woolly Adelgid (HWA), a tiny but devastating invasive pest threatening local hemlock populations. Once oriented, the group will travel the trails of the preserve where participants will apply their new skills to assess hemlock health along the trails while learning new information about the pest.
The experience culminates with a restorative and peaceful winter forest bathing session, offering a chance to recharge while actively learning knowledge about the health of our local ecosystem.
