Stewardship Day: Tree Planting & Protection

  • Stony Creek Nature Preserve 5426 S 64th Ave New Era, MI, 49446 United States (map)

Calling all stewards! Roll up your sleeves and join the Oceana Conservation District for a hands-on stewardship event at the beautiful Stony Creek Nature Preserve. We invite you to help us restore our local landscape by planting and caging Eastern White Cedar seedlings. Our reforestation efforts focus on restoring the loss of native Hemlock trees due to the invasive Hemlock Woolly Adelgid (HWA). This project is supported by the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI), which provides critical funding to protect and restore the health of our regional ecosystems. This vital work protects young trees from deer browsing and ensures the long-term health of our new 40-acre preserve. Whether you’re a seasoned conservationist or looking to give back, your efforts will help preserve this vital ecosystem for future generations.

Please bring sturdy, waterproof footwear, gloves, and a passion for nature as we work together to enhance natures natural beauty!
