Regenerative Agriculture & Cattle Grazing Workshop

  • Tuck Away Acres 5919 West Arthur Road New Era, MI, 49446 United States (map)

Tuck Away Acres Farm, New Era

Join owner Nate McMakin to learn all about raising cattle, hogs, chickens, hay, and pasture using regenerative methods. The program will start with a home-grown meal and presentation by owner Nate McMakin about “why” he and his wife Jade chose this path. This will be followed by a wagon ride around the property to see “how” the McMakin’s are implementing regenerative MAEAP practices on their farm. You will see cattle being moved to a new section of pasture for the rotational grazing schedule, watering system, a road stream crossing, and a close-up look at what to look for when doing your own soil heath assessment on your property. NRCS and Conservation District staff will talk about available programs related to grazing, regenerative principles, and MAEAP during the program. Pre-registration is required and space is limited!

Oceana Conservation District is offering agricultural field events this summer with a focus on soil health. These events were made possible by a Regenerative Outreach Grant from the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
